White hydrogen – naturally occurring, geologically sourced, and emission-free – is emerging as a gamechanger in the global hydrogen landscape. As the world searches for scalable, cost-effective and truly clean energy solutions, white hydrogen offers a compelling path forward.

In Europe and especially in Germany, decentralised access to this native energy source could significantly enhance energy sovereignty, reduce dependency on imports, and enable a faster, more stable transition towards net-zero. For policymakers, it opens the door to rethink infrastructure, regulation and innovation funding.

On a global scale, countries like Oman, the UAE, Australia and the United States are beginning to tap into geological hydrogen at production costs around $1 per kg – a price point that could redefine the role of hydrogen in the energy mix entirely.
